Thank you for your interest in York County Head Start Programs!

This application process is for enrolling children whose parents/caregivers’ home address is at York County, Maine.

We accept applications for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. 

Application Process

  1. Submit your online pre-enrollment application  or download the application to print. You can also stop by our main office at 6 Spruce St. in Sanford and grab a printed copy. 
  2. Within 10 business days, our Application and Enrollment Coordinator will connect with you either by phone or email/mail to schedule an appointment. 
  3. If you use the online application form, you can use it to upload all the necessary documents (see the list with necessary documents below). Alternatively, you can bring them on the day of your appointment. Delays in providing the documents will hold off your child from being added to the waitlist. 
  4. Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email right away. You will receive a reminder about your appointment the day before it. The appointment with our Enrollment Coordinator takes about 30 minutes. 
  5. Once enrolled, you will be added to a waitlist. A letter will be sent to the address on file confirming your child has been added to the waitlist.
  6. You will continue receiving monthly updates until a spot opens.
  7. Upon acceptance, a Family Liaison will connect with you to get the enrollment process started. The enrollment process has to begin within 3 days of the day of acceptance. 
  8. The Family Liaison will schedule a meeting with you to go over the program requirements and set up a meeting with your child’s teacher.
  9. The final step before your child can start attending the classroom is to verify that all necessary health and nutrition documents of your child have been shared with us.
